The Point Cabins on Lake George
Get away from it all without going too far away in an authentic log cabin in beautiful Bolton Landing.
Lake George, known as the Queen of American Lakes, certainly has its commercial aspects. And, frankly, when we are looking for a great place for mini-golf or a Polynesian supper show, we are the gladder for it.
But Lake George is also a massive body of water. And we’re endlessly reminded that this famous lake still has a superabundance of private and secluded spots in which one can enjoy the simplicity and beauty of the Adirondacks.
Case in Point (no pun intended — okay, it was totally intended): The Point Cabins on Lake George in Bolton Landing are one of those unique, unassuming places. The property features seven authentic log cabins initially constructed in the 1950s. Staying there feels like a relaxing step back in time. Each cabin features:
Wood-burning fireplace
Authentic wood pine paneling and flooring
Views of the lake and mountains
Cathedral ceilings
Kitchen with full refrigerator and freezer
Well-stocked kitchenware with microwave and coffee maker
Private bathrooms and showers
Four of the cabins have Air Conditioning. Those units without AC have ceiling and window fans. With the cabins’ lake-side location and the Adirondack climate, we can attest that air conditioning is a rare necessity.
Activities and amenities at The Point Lake George include:
Kayaking
Canoeing
Swimming at the Point’s private beach
Fishing
Hiking
Birding
BBQ area
Community firepit
Guests may also bring their own boat to The Point. It’s recommended visitors confer with management ahead of time to ensure adequate accommodations for their vessel.
If you are genuinely looking to get away from it all, there are certainly many other spots in the ADK to unplug, disconnect, and leave the grid behind. But, if you want to get away without getting too far away, The Point Cabins might be an excellent choice.
