This week’s “Where in the ADK?” comes from the shores of Lake Champlain on the Northeastern edge of the ADK. It’s the Bluff Point Lighthouse which sits on Valcour Island, not far from Plattsburgh.
Bluff Point Light was the last lighthouse built on Lake Champlain, and its beacon could be seen from a distance of 18 miles. Being on an island, the lighthouse is accessible only by boat. That means you, and a canoe. However, the Clinton Historical Society, the manager of the lighthouse property, charters boats a few times a year to take tourists to the island.
