Up Yonda Farm in Bolton Landing Offers Guided Snowshoe Hiking
Adirondack Naturalists teach snowshoe basics and share insights into winter ecology during a series of hikes near Lake George.
If you're looking for a thrilling winter adventure in the Adirondacks, snowshoeing is a great option. Up Yonda Farm, located in Bolton Landing on Lake George, offers a series of snowshoe treks during January and February. These hikes are perfect for beginners, as they provide instruction on the basics of snowshoeing, as well as a guided trek led by one of Up Yonda Farm’s Adirondack Naturalists. During the hike, the Naturalists will share insights into Adirondack winter ecology, making it a fun and educational experience for all.
The program begins with instruction on snowshoeing basics, and then the group heads out on a one-mile, hour-long tour across Up Yonda Farm’s property. Along the trail, participants learn about animal tracking, winter ecology, and the Farm's interesting history.
The tour includes a stop at Up Yonda Farm's scenic vista point, where hikers are treated to a fantastic view of Lake George - the Queen of American Lakes. The program finishes near the Farmhouse, where trekkers can warm up by a welcoming campfire, enjoy hot cocoa and bask in the glory of completing this fun winter expedition.
The snowshoe hikes occur during January and February on Saturdays at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm at Up Yonda Farm’s facilities in Bolton Landing on Lake George. Reservations are recommended via a non-refundable reservation deposit of $1/person on Up Yonda’s website. They will accept walk-ins on a first-come, first-served basis. Snowshoe rentals in child and adult sizes are available for on-site use.
