Bobsled and Skeleton North American Cup
Lake Placid hosts the next generation of elite sliders.
The next generation of elite bobsled and skeleton athletes will compete for top positions at the North American Cup, a unique global development series, in Lake Placid at Mt. Van Hoevenberg.
This international sliding competition is designed to nurture emerging talent and prepare the next generation of the World’s best bobsled and skeleton competitors.
The event will feature bobsled and skeleton races in men's and women's categories. The top finishers will qualify for World- and Olympic-level competitions.
200 competitors from 25 countries vie for sliding victories.
These athletes are determined to make a statement, and their commitment is clear. Around 200 competitors from 25 countries will navigate the Mt. Van Hoevenberg track, racing down the ice and mastering each challenging turn.
The North American Cup is co-sponsored by USA Bobsled/Skeleton and the International Bobsled Federation. USA Bobsled/Skeleton serves as the American representative for the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation and is chartered by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee.
Elite athletes compete at one of the world’s most challenging sliding venues.
The Lake Placid track at Mt. Van Hoevenberg has long been ranked among the most difficult in the world. It hosted the Olympic Winter Games in 1932 and 1980.
Lake Placid’s combined track is considered one of the most technically demanding for bobsledders and other sliding sports. It features 20 challenging curves, the most of any track in the world.
