"Lo" is Paula Cole’s first album of original compositions in five years. The eleven songs, all written by Cole, delve into her journey of learning to trust again after experiencing profound challenges in life.

On "Lo," her dedicated bandmates—musicians who shine in their own right—recorded the album entirely live.
The talented lineup includes Jay Bellerose on drums, Chris Bruce on guitars, Ross Gallagher on upright and electric bass (along with backing vocals), and Rich Hinman on pedal steel and guitars.
The album was recorded and mixed by Mike Piersante, a nine-time Grammy Award-winning engineer, who provides a distinctive sound that serves as the foundation for "Lo."
Paula Cole’s voice is more powerful than ever, ranging from whispering poetry in a low alto to a primal scream. It showcases her battle scars, deep wisdom, and the richness of gospel, rock urgency, and folk sensitivity. She plays the piano, Rhodes, acoustic guitar, and clarinet while also providing her artfully arranged background vocals, embodying the essence of a poet with a funky groove.
Throughout her career, Cole has recorded and performed with a host of notable artists, including Peter Gabriel, Dolly Parton, Missy Elliott, Meshell N’Degeocello, Melissa Etheridge, Herbie Hancock, Sarah McLachlan, Terri Lyne Carrington, Emmylou Harris, Nona Hendryx, Paul Buchanan of The Blue Nile, John Paul White, and Jason Isbell.
