Lorca ADK in Indian Lake
An offshoot of a Catskill community, the Lorca ADK reimagines a classic mid-century modern American motor inn.
Welcome to Lorca ADK, a renovated classic mid-century modern American motel, reimagined, refurbished, and redecorated for today’s travelers with a hipster retro vibe.
Adirondack woodlands encircle the property, which is close to Indian Lake. The motel offers eight units, each with one or two full-size beds per room. Inquire about the number and size of beds before booking to ensure you get the accommodations you expect.
Each room has a private bathroom, desk, chair, toiletries, high-speed wifi, free parking, coffee, tea, mini-fridge, s'mores kit, and firewood. On the property, guests have free use of grills, fire pits, lawn games, paths for nature walks, and more. While the motel is not lakefront, a seasonal pool with weekend hours is available.
A word about air-conditioning: the motel is not air-conditioned, but fans are available. As 40-year residents of the ADK, we have air-conditioning in one bedroom of our home that also doubles as a home office. And we use that air conditioner on a handful of days in the summer. Unlike other places, ADK summer nights tend to be cool and comfortable, except for maybe a few days each summer. And don't you want to open the windows and breathe in that cool mountain air anyway?
How will you spend your days? Lorca ADK will rent kayaks and canoes by the day to their guests. Launch your chosen watercraft from the nearby Indian Lake Marina. If you're looking to rent a more powerful vessel, inquire at a place like Dunn's Boat Service. They also do private charters.
The NY State Department for Environmental Conservation (DEC) offers day-use passes for visitors who want to use picnicking, beach, and swimming facilities at public campgrounds. The DEC website provides information on facilities available on Indian Lake and nearby Lewey Lake.
Other nearby attractions include:
A wide variety of hiking trails. Be sure to observe the rules of the trail -- Leave No Trace. And follow all other protocols re: what to wear, bring, etc.
The Wild Center (think the Museum of Natural History for the Adirondacks)
