Battle of the Cones 2024 Winner: Speculator Creamery

Congratulations, Speculator Creamery.
The final votes have been tabulated, and the 2024 Battle of the Cones winner is Speculator Creamery!
From an original field of 16 very delicious contenders, it came down to Speculator and Wind-Chill Factory (a previous Battle of the Cones winner), and the cute stand from a small town in the Central Adirondacks prevailed.
We certainly enjoyed getting to know each of this year’s contenders and can vouch that Speculator Creamery is worthy of the honor. We stopped by their ice cream stand last Saturday, and even in the pouring rain, they were scooping up excellent ice cream for a crowd of customers.
Runner-up, Wind-Chill Factory, in Ticonderoga, is also a very worthy opponent. It’s one of our favorite spots when we’re in the Lake Champlain region of the Adirondacks.

The Adirondacks’ best ice cream stands duked it out, March Madness Style (but in July and August).
This year marked the third installment of the tradition. The competition, resembling March Madness, pitted the best ice cream stands in the Adirondacks against each other. ROOST set the bracket earlier this summer, and since July 22, 2024, the region's favorite ice cream stands competed
For several weeks, we used the Battle of the Cones as an excuse reason to visit some of the Adirondacks’ best ice cream stands. You can also find iconic ice cream venues on ROOST's Ice Cream Stand Wayfinder Trail.
