With a location this tranquil, it’s no wonder that an establishment named the Long View Lodge has been operating on this spot for over a hundred years in one form or another.

Today’s Long View Lodge is a charming restaurant and hotel with a few pleasantly rustic cabins right on the shores of Long Lake, one of the Adirondack Park’s most stunning bodies of water. Although it’s actually not a lake; Long Lake is a glacial widening of the Raquette River and is part of the water route that connects the Fulton Chain Lakes with the Saint Lawrence River drainage. But we’re not here to talk about that.

Guests at Long View Lodge enjoy cozy rooms that retain their vintage charm while providing very comfortable, modern amenities. Inside the main Lodge are four rooms with either King or Queen beds. All rooms include:

  • Private, modernized bathrooms

  • WiFi (throughout the whole Lodge and even outside)

  • Coffee/Tea service in the lobby

  • 42” flat-screen TVs with Dish Network

  • Embroidered, high-quality linens

The property also offers rustic but very comfortable cabins with private baths and the same amenities as the lodge rooms. Plus, they are pet-friendly.

The restaurant at Long View Lodge is worth a trip even if you can’t stay the night, Open year-round for dinner and the occasional brunch, guests can dine in the attractive wood-beamed dining room. Or enjoy a cocktail and a burger in the pine-paneled bar with expansive views of the lake. And there is copious outdoor seating in warm weather on the deck overlooking the lake.

In the summer, guests have plenty of direct lake access, and boat docking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a very Adirondack-y lounge for relaxing inside with beautiful wood beams and a gorgeous pressed tin ceiling, all under the watchful eye of a giant moose head hanging over the fireplace.

Please note there is no air-conditioning at Long View Lodge. While summers in the ADK do have a few sultry days, nights tend to cool down. A lot. Our advice, keep an eye on the weather report and if it looks like you’re in for a few hot and sticky nights, pack a fan. You’re here for the fresh air, after all. An open window, fan and lake breezes almost always do the trick.
