Adirondack Pollinator Festival and Native Plant Sale
Lake Placid’s Uihlein Farm is the place to “bee” on June 1, 2024.
Visit Lake Placid on June 1, 2024, for the 7th annual Adirondack Pollinator Festival and Native Plant Sale. The event takes place at the Uihlein Farm Greenhouse.
AdkAction will host the event in partnership with Northern NY Audubon, The Wild Center, and Paul Smith’s College. They will offer 15 varieties of native flowering plants grown right here in the Adirondacks to benefit pollinators. These species are selected based on their presence in New York State, habitat value, and the nutrition they offer to pollinators throughout the year.
Each plant has been carefully sourced or grown from seed to ensure that they have never come in contact with neonicotinoids (a class of insecticides harmful to pollinators).
Other activities at the Pollinator Festival include:
Enjoy a stunning view of the high peaks from a historic greenhouse
Picnicking is encouraged
Gardening experts will be on hand to answer your questions about planting and caring for your pollinator habitat
Kids can take home free wildflower seed packets, participate in themed craft and activity stations to learn about pollination, complete a pollinator scavenger hunt challenge, and get their faces painted with flowers, butterflies, bees, and other pollinators
Join in free grassland walks and workshops
Learn about composting to restore Adirondack soils and using compost in your pollinator garden
Meet area nonprofits who are helping protect pollinators and their habitat
Visit AdkAction's website for the full schedule, more information about the event, and to pre-order your plants.
