Champlain Area Trails Hosts National Trails Day Hike
Join CATS for a hike in partnership with the Whallonsburg Grange celebrating local artist Ted Cornell.
Celebrate 2024 National Trails Day® by joining Champlain Area Trails for a morning hike on a new trail that connects Edward ‘Ted’ Cornell’s storied Art Farm to a new exhibit in Whallonsburg. The 4.5-mile hike will take hikers through forests, fields, and alongside creeks.
The group will meet at 9 am at the Whallonsburg Grange and take shuttles to the Art Farm to view Cornell's sculpture art on the property before the hike. Those who prefer not to do the full hike may take later shuttles to tour the farm.
The hike is moderate-level, and touring the Art Farm is suitable for beginners. Afterward, everyone will meet at Whitcomb's Arts for an optional $15 lunch from River and Rails Market & Deli and a presentation on Ted Cornell's art.
Bring good shoes for hiking that can get muddy, as it is early June in the Adirondacks. Additionally, bring water and snacks.
The Whallonsburg Grange parking is at 1610 NY-22, Essex, NY 12936.
Email Torey@champlainareatrails.com to register for the hike/lunch.
