Cupola House is a greek revival “double house” on Main Street in the super cute and historic town of Essex on the NY State side of Lake Champlain. The house boasts beautiful views of the lake and consists of two apartments, each with its own open-plan living and dining area, full-sized kitchen, and private bathroom.

The only difference between the apartments is that the North Apartment has a large bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a single bed, and a cozy wood stove. The south apartment consists of two bedrooms, each with a queen bed.  The south apartment also provides access to the second-floor porch with a table and chairs for outdoor dining.

Essex is a great jumping-off point to tour this stunning and historic part of New York State. Founded before the American Revolution, Essex and nearby towns still provide plenty of action for visitors. It’s also great to relax and enjoy clean mountain lake air. Here are a few ideas on things to do:

  • Hike Champlain Area Trails (aka C.A.T.S.)

  • Visit the Adirondack Art Association Gallery to see works by local artists

  • Take a walk through the village and check out local shops and restaurants

  • Ferry across Lake Champlain to Charlotte, VT. From there, you can spend a day in Burlington, VT, or experience the incredible Shelburne Museum

  • Indulge your inner yogi at Lake Champlain Yoga & Wellness

  • Enjoy water sports at lakefront parks and NYS recreation facilities in nearby towns like Port Henry, Willsboro, Port Henry, and Crown Point.

  • Play 9-holes at one of America’s first golf courses, Cobble Hill, in nearby Elizabethtown

The Marina is steps from Cupola House for visitors who want to arrive by water. For more information, visit their website.
