Forty Six Restaurant in Keene
Bistro-style, farm-to-table destination dining in the Adirondack High Peaks.
Would that we could eat at Forty Six every day. This High Peaks establishment with high standards for fresh, local, and sustainably sourced ingredients is one of our favorites. And, truth be told, we’d prefer to scale this 46er than any other.
Part of the Dartbrook complex -- stunning home furnishing store, upscale inn -- Forty Six delivers on the culinary end of the equation.
The menu changes seasonally. On a recent visit this past fall, we enjoyed a lunch of fried brussels sprouts, kale caesar salad with salmon, the most delicious fried chicken sandwich we’ve had outside of Korea-town in NYC, and a fantastic brisket sandwich. If we could, we would’ve stayed for dinner for the steak frites in bordelaise with truffle fries, shepherd’s pie and Thai-style red curry tofu.
The ambiance is cozy and laid-back. And the service is lovely. The staff at Forty Six make an effort to make every guest feel at home.
