Adirondack Winter Invitational: Men’s College Hockey Tournament in Lake Placid
The Adirondack Winter Invitational is a two-day event that brings together some of the best men's college hockey players from around the nation. The event is hosted in the historic 1980 Herb Brooks Arena. The University of Massachusetts-Amherst will play against Cornell in the opening game of the invitational on Friday, and Arizona State will take on Clarkson in the nightcap. On Saturday night, the two winning teams from Friday night's games will meet to compete for the championship, while the losing teams will play in a consolation round.
Cornell and Clarkson are members of the ECAC Hockey conference, which holds its championship tournament on the same ice in Lake Placid every March. Massachusetts plays in the Hockey East Conference, while Arizona State is a Pac-12 school playing as a Division I independent for men's hockey. The Sun Devils have been an NCAA Division I team since 2016-2017 and will join the National Collegiate Hockey Conference starting in the future.
