When a faithful police dog and his human police officer owner are injured together on the job, a harebrained but life-saving surgery fuses them, and Dog Man is born.

Dog Man (voiced by Peter Hastings, who also wrote the script) is sworn to protect, serve, fetch, sit, and roll over.

As Dog Man embraces his new identity and strives to impress his Chief (Lil Rel Howery, who appeared in Get Out and Free Guy), he must stop the evil plots of feline supervillain Petey the Cat (voiced by legendary Saturday Night Live alum Pete Davidson, star of The King of Staten Island).

When Lil Petey falls into the clutches of a common enemy, Dog Man and Petey reluctantly join forces in an action-packed race against time to rescue the young kitten. In the process, they discover the power of family (and kittens!) to bring even the most hostile foes together.

A spin-off of the popular Captain Underpants franchise.

Produced by DreamWorks Animation and Scholastic Entertainment, the film is a spin-off and story within a story of Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie (2017) and the second film in the Captain Underpants franchise.

Indian Lake Theater presents the family-friendly film "Dog Man."

Praise for “Dog Man”.

Reviews from leading film critics paint “Dog Man”as a fun diversion for Lil’ ADKers and their parents.

“A silly, hyperactive, generally sweet kids’ movie that should prove diverting to its intended audience and not totally grueling for the parents who have to go along,” was the Wall Street Journal’s Zachary Barnes’ assessment.

Writing for The New York Times, film critic David Sims commented, “Mostly, it’s a visual pleasure: The computer renderings have just enough texture, and the movements enough jittery tactility, to give the film a handmade feel. The splashy color palette keeps the eye engaged.”

Nell Minnow, critic for RogerEbert.com noted, “The humor balances nicely between goofy jokes for kids and references for adults, who will appreciate the signs on the buildings and the references to classics like ‘Apocalypse Now’.”

“Dog Man ” plays April 3 to 6. Showtimes are 7 pm Thursday through Saturday and 2 pm on Sunday.
