Charged by Timothée Chalamet's Oscar-nominated electric performance, this ballad of Bob Dylan might not get under the enigmatic artist's skin but will make you feel like you've spent time in his company.

In the early 1960s, 19-year-old Bob Dylan arrives in New York with his guitar and revolutionary talent, destined to change the course of American music. Forming his most intimate relationships during his rise to fame, he grows restless with the folk movement, making a controversial choice that reverberates worldwide.

“Bob Dylan” the singer-songwriter’s debut album released in 1962.

Based on Elijah Wald's 2015 book “Dylan Goes Electric!” the film follows Dylan from his earliest folk music success to the momentous controversy over his use of electric instruments a the Newport Folk Festival in 1965,

The movie is populated with famous musicians and personalities from that time, including Pete Seeger (played by Edward Norton), Joan Baez (Monica Barbaro), Scoot McNairy (Woody Guthrie), Alan Lomax (Norbert Leo Butz), and Johnny Cash (Boyd Holbrook) among others.

Praise for “A Complete Unknown.”

Writing for The Los Angeles Times, film critic Sergio Burstein praised the production as “a film that, despite the magnitude of its undertaking, is accessible and exciting, but never tries to idolize an artist who is presented both at the height of his genius and his most egocentric, contradictory and even unpleasant.”

The Houston Chronicle’s Cary Darling observed that “So many things could have gone wrong with a Bob Dylan biopic that it's a small miracle that James Mangold's "A Complete Unknown" is not just watchable but actually slyly observant and surprisingly compelling.”

Mark Kennedy, a critic for the Associated Press wrote “A Complete Unknown is utterly fascinating, capturing a moment in time when songs had weight, when they could move the culture -- even if the singer who made them was as puzzling as a rolling stone.“

The film earned eight Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Chalamet), Best Supporting Actor (Norton), and Best Supporting Actress (Barbaro).

It also received three Golden Globe nominations (including Best Motion Picture – Drama), four Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations (winning Best Actor for Chalamet), and six at the British Academy Film Awards (including Best Film).
