The Bitters and Bones Turkey Trot in Saranac Lake is not your average run-of-the-mill Thanksgiving Day cardio fest.
It starts with a month-long virtual competition and finishes with an epic in-person race on Thanksgiving Day. Organizers leave you with little to no excuse for not participating.
In the first weeks of November, you choose how you compete: pound pavement, conquer country roads, or tackle trails. Just keep track of the miles you’ve logged.
On Thanksgiving morning, join a festive 5K through downtown Saranac Lake, featuring refreshments, auctions, and a fantastic community of family, friends, and chosen family.

The 2024 Bitters & Bones Turkey Trot supports two terrific local Adirondack causes: the Saranac Lake Interfaith Food Pantry and the Saranac Lake Student Needs Fund.
If the health benefits of exercise, the satisfaction of philanthropic giving and the overall feeling of superiority over your fellow Thanksgiving revelers aren't enough to get you hooked, there are also prizes.
The runner that banks the most bucks from sponsors and the Trotter with the most miles logged will both win a $1,000 Bitters gift card.
That's two chances to win, so shake your tailfeather and prepare for glory. Be sure to call your friends, family, and estranged Uncle Eustace and encourage them to dig deep into their wallets for some sweet sponsor donations.
