Thurman’s Annual Fall Farm Tour
Experience the ultimate farm-to-table experience at this delightful fall festival in the Adirondacks.
Make sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, October 12, 2024, during Columbus Day and Indigenous People’s Day weekend, for a full day of farm fun in Thurman, NY.
This is one of our favorite events of the year. It’s a purely authentic Adirondack experience featuring local food producers and makers doing what they do best.
Start the day with a homemade pancake breakfast with real maple syrup, enjoy guided wagon rides, and experience the thrill of pumpkin chuckin’.
Explore a range of activities, from sugar house tours and maple boiling demos to antique cider pressing and artisan markets.
Follow the map to take a self-guided tour of some of the best farms in the Lake George area.
Meet non-GMO heritage pigs, grass-fed beef, all-natural poultry, and more. Discover fresh fall produce, award-winning cheeses, and locally crafted Adirondack goods.
Don’t miss the quilt show, where the Thurman Quilt Group will display their creations and offer handmade items for sale. Remember to bring a cooler for your farm-fresh purchases and have your camera ready to capture every Instagram-worthy moment of the day.

As you drive into Thurman, look for signposts at various intersections directing you to each site. Plan enough time to see as many sites as possible, and have a great, fun-filled day.
Blackberry Hill Farm — 10 am to 4 pm
Visit a diversified family farm in the southern Adirondacks
The farm stand will be open, offering Artisan breads, bagels, English muffins and other locally made items
Enjoy hand-made, fresh-out-of-the-oven wood-fired pizza made with on-farm ingredients
Snack on organic soft Bavarian-style pretzels or grab-and-go items like pastries, cookies, brownies, and other treats
Candy Mountain -10 am to 4 pm
Sample great-tasting maple syrup and learn how they use sustainable farming practices to make their products

The Farm is also certified by the New York State Department of Agriculture’s Grown and Certified program for their commitment to Environmental Stewardship and Food Safety.
Martin’s Lumber & Lucyann’s Artistry - 10 am to 4 pm
Artisan Market & Wood Walks: Discover Adirondack art and crafts from local artisans, with live demonstrations and hands-on activities for kids
Guided Nature Walks: Enjoy guided walks to identify mushrooms, plants, and trees, including “Eat a Tree” samples and dandelion coffee
Mushroom Walks: Certified guides will lead walks to explore the fascinating world of wild mushrooms, discussing edible and medicinal species
Interactive Exhibits: Enjoy weaving demonstrations on a 40” Finnish Normalo Floor Loom, candle making, and learn how to spin a paper bead
Self-Guided Walks: Take part in self-guided tree walks and meet with the owner, Gary Martin, to discuss sustainable forestry
Mud St. Maple — 10 am to 4 pm
Visit their Sugar Shack for fresh, hot maple donuts, maple marshmallows for s’mores, and complimentary maple coffee and hot chocolate
Fun activities Lil’ ADKers include leaf rubbings, a scavenger hunt, and a nature walk through part of the sugarbush

One of our favorite stops every year on the farm tour; Nettle Meadow Sanctuary Farm is the home to well over 130 farm sanctuary animals and a world-class, award-winning cheese company

TEF Brains Manufacturing & Outlet - 10 am to 4 pm
TEF has developed a bodywear design and manufacturing art that uses century-old lace-making machines to produce down-to-earth, lace-like fashions that merge old-world craftsmanship with contemporary performance and sustainably values

Thurman Quilt Show - 9:30 am to 3:30 pm
Explore beautiful handcrafted quilts made by the Thurman Quilt Group
The show held in Thurman Town Hall highlights their yearly accomplishments and offers quilted items for sale
The group is active in community outreach, making items for local hospitals, children in crisis, and community shut-ins
Toad Hill Maple Farm - 10 am to 4 pm
Free guided tours of the Sugar House to witness the maple boiling process in their evaporator and enjoy live demonstrations
Free guided wagon rides around the farm
Pumpkin Chunkin’
The farm store will serve fresh maple cookies and samples of their maple products
Valley Raod Maple Farm - 9 am to 4 pm
Pancake Breakfast from 9 am to 1 pm
Gift shop offering maple products and other items 9 am to 4 pm
Whitefield’s Farm - 10 am to 5 pm
Home of our future Thanksgiving turkey, sample some of Whitefield’s delicious chicken and turkey sausages
