XC Ski & Snowshoe Racing in North Creek
The Citizens Series community race program continues on February 14, 2024, at the North Creek Ski Bowl in the Adirondacks.
The North Creek Ski Bowl hosts fun Nordic skiing and snowshoe racing in January and February on the professionally groomed Stadium Course under the lights.
Encouraging winter fitness in a fun environment.
The Citizen Series annual gathering promotes winter fitness in a non-competitive environment, focusing on community involvement. Participants can win exciting prizes through raffle-style drawings and participating in the event.
The races are held on Wednesday evenings: January 10, 17, 24, 31, February 7, 14, 21, and 28 in 2024. Dates are subject to change due to weather and other variables. Check here for the latest information.
Race registration occurs inside the Joe Minder Lodge at the Ski Bowl every race day, starting at 5 pm. Registration closes at 5:50 pm, and the races begin at 6 pm with a mass start.
When registering, participants can choose to race on snowshoes or can classic or skate ski. The Ski Bowl's stadium course offers a professionally maintained and brightly lit track for racers to choose from. The distance options include 1.25K (1 loop), 2.5K (2 loops), 3.75K (3 loops), and 5K (4 loops) to cater to racers of different abilities.
These events are free for all ticketed guests and season pass holders. If you don't have a ticket or a season pass, you can still participate by paying a reduced twilight Nordic trail fee of $12, which includes registration.
2024 also marks the 90th Anniversary of the Legendary Ski Trains that brought skiers from all over New York to North Creek and helped to drive the development of the Gore Mountain area as a winter destination. Learn more about this fascinating story.
