Half Off Tours at Great Camp Sagamore During Durant Days

During Durant Days, on August 3 and 4, 2024, you can tour Alfred Vanderbilt’s magnificent estate, built by William West Durant and receive 50% off the usual admission price.

The tour offers a fascinating glimpse into the past and life at a Gilded Age retreat. Durant built Great Camp Sagamore in 1897, and it was the summer home to the Vanderbilt Family for half a century. It’s one of our favorite places to bring visitors in the Adirondacks.

Tours consist of a short slide show followed by a 1.5-hour walking tour of the key buildings in the upper and lower complex, for a total of about two hours. You will see the worker’s village and the iconic landmark buildings and peek inside a piece of living history.

Please note that the camp's walking tour includes walking on gravel roads and staircases. The upper complex is handicap accessible for persons with limited mobility.
