The Strand Movie Theater in Old Forge
Full disclosure: Researching and writing about The Strand in Old Forge takes work. They do not have a Facebook page (which is fine, we understand the urge not to bend the knee to Zuckerberg).
Their website is superficial — it offers critical information, what is showing/performing and when. We also admire the “Just the facts, ma’am” approach. Although, if you call us “Ma’am,” we’ll sock you in the acorns.
Here’s what we have learned, and we hope it’s helpful to you.
The Strand shows first-run movies at reasonable prices. Visit their website for times and details.
The theater also presents live performances — music, magic and theater.
From other sources, we learned that the theater opened a hundred years ago, in 1923. It showed silent movies and then, in time, served as both a dance hall and barbershop.
However, this lovely video about the theater and its current owners tells a beautiful story about the theater.
