Timberline Cafe & Bakery
Handmade sandwiches and delicious bakery treats in this casual spot in the center of Speculator.
On a recent ADK Taste excursion, we were passing through Speculator when our mid-day hunger started to turn into a bad case of the “hangries.” Lucky for us, Timberline Cafe & Bakery came into view, and we pulled in just in time for a delightful meal.
The lunch menu features a wide choice of sandwiches and salads, along with daily specials and soups. It was late August, so I couldn’t resist the brown-sugar bacon, lettuce, and basil mayo, and just picked tomato sandwich. Road trip companion #1 chose an excellent chicken curry on ciabatta, and companion #2 picked the Timber Supreme -- roast beef, caramelized onions, sharp cheddar, blue cheese crumbles, and horseradish mayo on garlic bread.
We were not disappointed. Everything was tasty, fresh, and made-to-order. Based on our delicious lunch, we ordered fresh-baked scones and muffins to go for breakfast the following day. They were excellent, as well.
Timberline is casual -- order at the counter, find a spot to sit, and the staff will bring your order to your table. In the summer, patrons can opt to sit outdoors. They also have a full breakfast menu of very tempting-sounding egg sandwiches, pancakes, french toast, and quiches. And, of course, yummy bakery items.
Timberline’s hours seem based on seasonal demand, so be sure to check out their Facebook page for current hours and offerings.
