Experience the calming connection of nature with Sensory Snowshoeing, a rejuvenating self-care activity inspired by the restorative practice of Forest Bathing.

This tranquil experience takes place at Dewey Mountain Recreation Center in Saranac Lake, inviting participants to explore beautiful, snowy landscapes while engaging all their senses to appreciate nature's beauty fully.

As you walk across the soft, powdery snow under a vast sky, you’ll hear the gentle crunch of your snowshoes, feel the crisp, refreshing air fill your lungs, and admire the delicate, frost-covered trees around you.

Sensory snowshoeing: the basics.

Participants will be introduced to a unique winter outdoor self-care practice during this event. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Gentle activities on easy terrain (all skill levels are welcome)

  • Focus on sensory exploration, relaxation, and community fellowship

  • Snowshoe or microspike rentals available (suggested donation: $5 per session)

  • The event will take place regardless of weather conditions: snow, rain, or shine, followed by wild evergreen needle tea
