Managing the Northville-Placid Trail’s 138 miles
The Adirondack Experience hosts a discussion featuring NY DEC resource management and planners.
Since 1927, the New York States Department of Environmental Conservation has overseen the Northville-Placid Trail, which runs 138 miles through the heart of the Adirondack’s 6 million acres.
Northville DEC staff manage 100 miles of the Northville-Placid Trail from the southern terminus to Long Lake. DEC Lands & Forests staff are well-versed in managing and maintaining the historic trail.
Working with partner organizations, the team is on the ground, day in and day out, identifying and implementing improvement projects on the Northville-Placid Trail to ensure it remains the premier long trail in New York State.
The Adirondack Experience (ADKX) in Blue Mountain Lake will host an informative discussion with Jaime Parslow, a Natural Resources Planner for the NYS DEC who focuses on Adirondack Forest Preserve Management and Planning. Jaime grew up in the Southern Adirondacks and has spent her life recreating and exploring the region.
Appearing with Jaime will be Jonathan DeSantis. He grew up hiking and camping in the Southern Adirondacks before pursuing a career in forestry. For the past 11 years, he has contributed to managing state lands in Fulton and Hamilton counties.
