Lake George’s Lite Up the Village

The annual holiday event returns to Lake George Village on Thanksgiving weekend.

Lake George's Light Up the Night Holiday Parade.

Holiday Parade on Canada Street in Lake George Village.

Every year, the charming Village of Lake George transforms into a sparkling wonderland, adorned with over 7,000 twinkling lights to warmly embrace the holiday season.

This delightful, free event is held in the scenic Shepard Park, where the air is filled with the joyous sounds of live music, the enchanting crackle of fireworks, and the laughter of children eagerly awaiting visits from Santa Claus. Attendees can sip on rich hot chocolate as they soak in the festive atmosphere and partake in a variety of seasonal activities.

Be sure to don your most festive Christmas sweaters to join in the fun of the Ugly Sweater Contest, adding an extra layer of cheer to the celebration. Following this lighthearted competition, everyone will gather in unison for the highly anticipated Lite-Up-the-Village countdown, igniting the spirit of the season.

The magnificent lights will illuminate various areas, including Canada Street, Beach Road, Shepard Park, and Festival Commons, creating a breathtaking backdrop for the evening. After the countdown, a spectacular fireworks display will light up the night sky over the lake's tranquil waters, leaving spectators in awe of the colorful spectacle.

Once the fireworks have concluded, find the perfect vantage point along Canada Street to enjoy the Parade of Holiday Lights at 6:30 pm. Local fire departments will showcase their creativity in a friendly competition for cash prizes, which will be awarded at the Lake George American Legion. Refreshments will be available, inviting visitors to savor local treats while enjoying the festivities.

As the parade progresses, it will escort the beloved Santa and Mrs. Claus to the Lake George Volunteer Fire Department on Ottawa Street. Families are warmly invited to meet the jolly couple after the parade, sharing smiles and holiday cheer in this magical setting.
