Catapult Your Pumpkin at Adirondack Pub & Brewery in Lake George Village
Jettison your obsolete pumpkins and jack-o’-lanterns courtesy of the folks at Adirondack Brewery.
Pumpkins are helpful in many ways -- as a filling for pie, a jack-o'-lantern, and, as it turns out, as a projectile. For several years, the Adirondack Pub & Brewery has hosted its annual Pumpkin Chunkin event on the first Saturday after Halloween. And this year, the festivities are expanding.
According to a recent article in the Lake George Examiner, the event “started mainly with catapulting pumpkins. It’s grown into an event that mixes a medieval village with dancing witches and more,” according to Adirondack Pub & Brewery owner John Carr. “Now we have more than double the amount of vendors this year.”
Event highlights include:
All kinds of fun attractions for Lil’ ADKers, including a giant slide, a bounce house, carnival rides and games
Food and beer trucks
Live music
The famous Witches Dance Group from the Gem Theatre
Wizard Gondahl, the Wand Maker
Interactive storyteller Thimbleberry the Wood Sprite
A Medieval Village with a blacksmith forge, battle demonstrations and craft vendors
Slingshots for launching apples and other fruits
Bonfires
While the event is free to attend, it is BYOP (Bring Your Own Pumpkin) for launching. Sources tell us that whole pumpkins make the most significant impact (jack-o’-lanterns tend to fall apart).
