Lake George Celebrates an Adirondack Christmas with its Annual “Lite Up the Village” Festival
Every year the Village of Lake George is lit by thousands of lights to celebrate the holiday season. “Lite Up the Village” is a free event that takes place in Shepard Park featuring fireworks, live music, a holiday parade, Santa Claus, hot chocolate, and more.
Don’t forget your Christmas sweater to participate in the Crazy & Ugly Sweater Contest. The winner will receive a $100 gift certificate.
At approximately 6:00 pm, everyone in Shepard Park will join the countdown to Lite up the Village, followed immediately by a spectacular fireworks show over the lake.
Following the fireworks, grab a spot on Canada Street to watch the Parade of Holiday Lights at 7:00 pm. Local Fire Departments compete for cash prizes awarded at a complimentary refreshment hour at the Lake George American Legion.
The Parade escorts Santa and Mrs. Claus to the Lake George Volunteer Fire Department on Ottawa Street, where families are invited to meet with them after the Parade. The Lake George Community Band will fill the fire department with holiday music while you wait to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus!
Lake George Village merchants will be offering special sales all day as well as refreshments.
