Lake Placid Center for the Arts (LPCA) will welcome renowned singer-songwriter Dar Williams on January 9, 2025. Williams’ songwriting is known for optimism-laden lyrics delivered on melodies that alternate between beguiling lightness and understated gravity.
Dar Williams firmly believes that each of us has our own power and the ability to achieve great things. She rejects the notion of exceptionalism, which encourages us to "admire that distant star" while making us feel small, insignificant, and unworthy of shining in our own right.
Instead of waiting for a flicker of distant light to inspire small accomplishments, Williams advocates for recognizing our own potential. In her 2021 album, "I'll Meet You There," she explores the theme that there comes a point when we cannot control our future.
