Top of the Park Lake Placid
Wine, cocktails, small plates and big views in the High Peaks.
It's embarrassing. There I was in Manhattan at a good friend's birthday party in the private dining room of a famous foodie hot spot, chatting away with soon-to-be new friends and sharing info about the nascent ADK Taste website, dropping bombs of knowledge about all the cool places to visit in the ADK.
They were rapt, taking notes and clearly future ADK Taste Newsletter subscribers. And then they mentioned this "Top of the Park" place in Lake Placid. I had never heard of it, to my shame and mortification. Let's just say I recovered well. And as soon as I could, I then hustled my ass up to Lake Placid to check out this hot spot right under my nose.
We weren't disappointed. Top of the Park offers a delicious assortment of small plates to suit any palate. From wild mushroom risotto to slow-braised sakura pork jowl, they've got what you're hungering (or hangering) for.
There are delights from the sea, like miso-marinated sablefish and sesame encrusted tuna, as well as options from the land, such as confit chicken wings, bacon-wrapped venison loin, and wagyu flat iron steak.
Equally stellar, Top of the Park's mixologists serve fabulous cocktails to suit any taste. They also offer an assortment of local hand-crafted beers on tap and nationally and internationally-known ales in bottles and cans. And the wine list offers a variety of options to suit your palate.
