Scaroon Manor Campground
Picturesque campground on the site of the historic Scaroon Manor Resort
The setting for the Scaroon Manor Campground has its roots in one of the southern Adirondacks’ great resorts of the 20th Century. It gets its name from the OG hotel, Scaroon Manor, a sprawling high-class summer destination, attracting guests from all over the U.S. with a wide variety of activities and amenities. At one time it accommodated nearly 750 guests.
In fact, the movie Marjorie Morningstar (1958), starring Gene Kelly and Natalie was filmed primarily at Scaroon Manor.
However, by the early ‘60s, American vacation preferences changed and big resorts grew out of favor. New York State wisely purchased the property in 1967.
Today, Scaroon Manor Campground is a popular family destination with:
60 campsites (two with tent platforms)
Swimming beach
Hot showers
Flush toilets
Trailer dump station, recycling center
Boat docks, fishing pier
Accessibility for the mobility impaired
