“Lite Up the Village” in Lake George is an Adirondack Tradition: Bigger and Brighter in 2023
One of the Adirondack Park’s most well-known destinations kicks off its annual holiday celebration right after Thanksgiving.
Join the festivities as the Village of Lake George kicks off the holiday season with its 25th annual “Lite Up the Village” celebration. Every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the town lights up Shepard Park with an impressive light display and celebrates with free, fun events and activities. It’s a holiday tradition for the town and a significant visitor attraction. And this year, the event is expanding.
Welcoming a new winter attraction to the Adirondacks on Friday, November 24.
This year’s “Lite Up the Village” celebration includes the opening of the new “Winter Realms” attraction in Charles R. Wood Park, replacing “Ice Castles,” which entertained visitors for the last two years.
“Winter Realms” allows visitors to experience the magic of winter through an outdoor multimedia show featuring sound, light, music, and video projections.
The new attraction also features ice skating, light shows, a mystic light walk, a snowman park, an ice sculpture garden, the Polar Pub, a picnic plaza, and Santa’s Candy Cane court, all contained within Charles R. Wood Park.
Get ready to light up the Lake George night on Saturday, November 25th.
Lake George’s traditional holiday celebration begins before sundown with plenty of fun activities, including:
Carriage rides, bounce houses and hot chocolate are available all day
Live music with Suzie Q, Matt Donnelly and the Newell Family in Shepard Park from 3 to 6 pm
The Crazy and Ugly Sweater contest is back. Be sure to show up at 5:30 pm at Shepard Park’s bandstand stage for this always entertaining event
Village illumination begins on Canada Street and Shepard Park at 6 pm, followed immediately by a spectacular fireworks display that will be visible from Canada Street and around Lake George.
The Parade of Holiday Lights follows with decorated fire trucks and festive holiday floats. The parade commences at 6:15 pm.
After the parade, greet Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Lake George Firehouse at 179 Ottawa Street. The American Legion on Rt. 9L will host the Parade Awards ceremony
