Elk Lake Lodge sits in the center of a 12,000-acre private preserve close to the Adirondack High Peaks region. Built over 100 years ago, the Lodge delivers a genuine Adirondack experience while borrowing from the best of the modern era to reduce its impact on the environment.

Electricity comes from solar power, water from their own aquifers, and food and produce from local providers. In other words, they let the natural world do the talking when it comes to making a big impression on guests.

Elk Lake Lodge comprises several buildings. The Main Lodge boasts a large comfortable living room for guests to gather in front of its large fieldstone fireplace, a covered porch from which one can enjoy views of the lake and mountains, and a dining room with more gorgeous views and breakfast and dinner are served.

Guest accommodations are in the classic Adirondack style and include six rooms in the Main Lodge (five twins and one queen), each with a private shower and bath. The Main Lodge is just steps from the boat dock and beach.

The resort also offers eight tastefully appointed private cabins and charming cottages near the main Lodge. Rest assured, all have Adirondack mountain and Elk Lake views. The cottages range in size, accommodating two to 12 guests. Each unique cabin includes a living room, modern bath, and several offer kitchens and fireplaces.

The nightly rate is inclusive of all meals. Patrons dine at tables arranged around a central fireplace overlooking Elk Lake and its panoramic views of the Adirondack High Peaks. Guests enjoy hearty breakfasts of eggs, French toast, or pancakes; each night, they chose their trail lunch for the next day; in the evenings, visitors enjoy a satisfying dinner of soup, salad, and a choice between two entrees, plus a homemade dessert. Tea is served each afternoon, followed by cheese and crackers at the cocktail hour.

Every day, patrons can choose an endless number of diversions to transport them from the neverending swirl of modern life. The Elk Lake - Clear Pond Preserve includes 40 miles of well-maintained private trails for guests’ exclusive use. Not only that, Elk Lake is the perfect jumping-off point for state trails into the Adirondacks’ High Peaks, handy for any aspiring 46ers.

Of course, all the water sports are available: kayaking, swimming, paddleboarding, rowboats, and canoes. At 600 acres, Elk Lake offers plenty of open water, inlets, bays and islands, plus there are the 200-acre deep glacial waters of Clear Pond.

Anglers in your family will not be disappointed by the abundance of Brook trout in Elk Lake. Fisherpeople can find lake trout and landlocked salmon in nearby Clear Pond. Close by are rushing streams and mountain ponds to satisfy any guests’ fly fishing itch.

In keeping with the resort’s focus on sustainability, the Lodge follows a comprehensive recycling program, uses environmentally-friendly cleaning products, sources goods from local producers, and employs its staff from nearby towns and villages.

Last but not least, if you haven’t figured it out already, Elk Lake Lodge is about disconnecting, unwinding, decompressing and resetting back to what truly matters. So, like many of the great places to stay in the ADK, that means no TV, cellular or radio service and only minimal internet. Can you hack it? Sure, we know you can.
