Welcome the Early Birds Back to the Central Adirondacks

The Adirondack Interpretive Center hosts a birding walk to look for early-arriving avian migrants.

Join a group of bird enthusiasts for an easy excursion to observe and identify the latest arriving migrant birds at Newcomb's Adirondack Interpretive Center (AIC).

Depending on the trail conditions, AIC guides will lead the walk along Rich Lake Marsh on the private Huntington Wildlife Forest. Alternatively, they will explore the trails at the AIC to see which resident and migrant birds are in the area where the trails are in the best condition.

This walk is an easy ramble of about 1.5 miles and is suitable for beginning birders.

The group will meet at 1 pm at the AIC. Guides advise participants to plan on 3 hours of slow birding and recommend dressing appropriately for the weather and bringing water and a snack.

Registration for the event is required. Sign up online or email shample@esf.edu to register. For the latest information, visit AIC’s Facebook page.
