Annual Salute to Veterans at Lake George’s Fort William Henry on November 11, 2024
Fort William Henry pays tribute to veteran military personnel with a wreath-laying and musket salet on Veterans’ Day.
Fort William Henry Museum will salute Adirondack veterans by placing over 9,000 American flags on the front lawn of the Fort William Henry Hotel west lawn on Veterans’ Day weekend.
Each flag represents an individual who served in the US Military from the North Country. A ceremony will commemorate the event on the front lawn of the Fort William Henry Hotel. The event will begin at 10:30 am with welcoming remarks followed by a salute at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month and culminate with brief statements by guest speakers.
Fort William Henry established The Field of Flags in 2016. That year, 53 flags were displayed on the lawn to honor 53 local veterans from the village and town of Lake George. In less than ten years, the event has grown significantly, now honoring thousands of veterans from across the Adirondacks.
If you would like to add a family member’s name to the ceremony, please send their first and last name, rank, military branch, and period of service to museum@fortwilliamhenry.com.
