Annual Salute to Veterans at Lake George’s Fort William Henry on November 11, 2023
Over 8,000 flags will be placed to honor Adirondack region veterans on Veterans Day weekend.
Fort William Henry will salute Adirondack veterans by placing over 8,000 American flags on the front lawn of the Fort William Henry Hotel on Veteran’s Day weekend. Each flag represents an individual who served in the US Military from the North Country. There will be a ceremony to commemorate the event, which will take place on the front lawn of the Fort William Henry Hotel. The event will begin with welcoming remarks followed by a salute on the 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month and culminate with brief statements by guest speakers.
Fort William Henry first established The Field of Flags in 2016. That year, 53 flags were posted on the lawn in honor of 53 named veterans local to the village and town of Lake George. In less than ten years, the event grew tremendously to honor thousands of Veterans across the Adirondacks.
Want to add a family member’s name to the ceremony? Please send First and Last name, rank, military branch, and period of service to fwhmuseum@fortwilliamhenry.com
After this event, there will be a lunch located in the Tankard Taverne. The lunch buffet is $24 a person, with all net proceeds being donated to the Adirondack Vet House, Inc. Tickets may be purchased online.
