Living History: “The Enemy Are Refortifying Ticonderoga”
Experience a re-enactment of British and American loyalist soldiers in the fall of 1781.
Fort Ticonderoga presents a living history event that explores British and American loyalist soldiers' launch of one last campaign to Ticonderoga in the fall of 1781 during the American Revolution.
Highlighted programming throughout the day features the encampment of soldiers and sailors and their eventual departure back north. Discover the network of scouts and spies through which the British government, the independent state of Vermont, and the Continental Congress negotiated their borders.
Activities for the day include:
Guided tours of the Fort
Musket demonstrations
Recreation of a typical Soldiers’ dinner
Informative talks and educational events
Rigging, sail-making and carpentry demonstrations
Re-enactment of a funeral for deceased American prisoners of war
Demonstration of the British Retreat
This is a super time to visit the Fort. It’s the off-season, so Fort Ticonderoga is only open for this special event.
