Westport’s Depot Theatre Announces 2024 Season
Presenting world-class theatre in the Adirondacks.
Westport’s historic Depot Theatre recently announced its 2024 professional main stage season lineup, featuring a little bit of country, a little rock and roll, and a whole lot of inspiring entertainment.
The Theatre’s season begins with a contemporary musical rom-com.
Lights go up on the main stage with ‘Analog & Vinyl,’ a musical rom-com romp featuring a memorable score infused with the influences of Elvis Costello, Ben Folds, Stephen Sondheim, The Beatles and Brian Wilson.
Theater enthusiasts say the musical offers a humorous take on heartbreak and aimlessness. It's a quirky romantic comedy that weaves in profound metaphysical and philosophical questions amid its catchy songs.
It’s a show that will appeal to people in their twenties and thirties, especially Baby Boomers and their kids. The songs are melodic and catchy, with intelligent lyrics.
Performances will take place from June 27 to July 14.
A play that reminds us to find joy in life’s everyday pleasures.
Next up on the stage is 'Every Brilliant Thing,' a hilarious, heart-wrenching, and heartwarming play. It's about a young boy who creates a list of all the best things in the world to convince his mother to live. It's a story about everything worth living for.
“Ice cream.” “Water fights.” “Peeing in the ocean and nobody knows.” The boy’s handwritten list to cheer up his despondent mom becomes a surprisingly funny and poignant ode to humanity.
This transcendent and tender coming-of-age journey reminds us to pay attention to life’s smallest joys and each other. Performances will run from July 18 to August 4.
A high-spirited country-western musical caps the Depot’s 2024 season.
To top off the season, the Depot will serve up some rollicking down-home entertainment with ‘Pump Boys and Dinettes.’
This lively country-western musical showcases Prudie and Rhetta Cupp, the kind-hearted owners of the Double Cupp Diner, performing alongside the talented guys from the gas station across the road.
The production delivers an evening of country western songs that received unanimous raves on and off Broadway. It runs at the Westport Depot Theatre from Aug. 8 to 25.
Performances designed to inspire and create joy.
The Depot’s Artistic Production Management team, Beth Glover and Karen Lewis, carefully curated the 2024 season.
"We wanted to choose a season of joy and feel-good shows that have great stories, heart, and provide escapism,” said Glover.
The Deport Theatre Academy puts local talent center stage.
The 2024 professional productions are preceded on the main stage by a unique Depot Theatre Academy production of ‘The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,’ which features three performances by the region’s experienced student artists on June 7-9.
Winner of the Tony and the Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, ‘The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee’ charms audiences nationwide with its effortless wit and humor.
