ARKAI Performs in Saranac
ARKAI is an award-winning electroacoustic duo that creates unique and genre-defying music by blending progressive classical, rock, jazz, folk, and global styles with contemporary technology. They compose original music that combines the beauty of classical virtuosity with the energy of a rock band and the spontaneity of a jazz combo.
The duo are graduates of The Juilliard School and have performed at various prestigious venues, including The MET, Joe’s Pub, City Winery, Rockwood Music Hall, Lincoln Center, Musikfest, Chateau Marmont, Carnegie Hall, and TED. Recently, they also had the honor to open for Oscar and Grammy-winning musician Jon Batiste at YPO EDGE in NYC’s Javits Center.
ARKAI has several notable engagements in 2023, including performances at Jazz Aspen and the U.S. Air Force Academy Symposium. They were also commissioned by the Museum of Chinese in America to compose a work for their exhibition called "Responses: Asian Americans Resisting the Tides of Racism." “Recently, ARKAI was awarded the 2021 Robert Sherman Music Education and Community Outreach Award by WQXR, The Juilliard School, and The Harold W. McGraw Family Foundation.
