Flood Watch in the Adirondacks: Friday to Saturday Morning

Tropical Storm Debby’s remnants may cause excessive rainfall and flooding.

If you’re in the Adirondacks or traveling here on Friday, be advised that heavy rain and possible flooding may occur from Friday morning, August 9, to Saturday morning, August 10, 2024.

Here’s what the National Weather Service is saying:

  • WHAT: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

  • WHERE: Portions of east central and eastern New York, including the following areas, in east central New York, Northern Warren. In eastern New York, Hamilton, Montgomery, Northern Fulton, Northern Herkimer, Southern Fulton and Southern Herkimer.

  • WHEN: From Friday morning through Saturday morning.

  • IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS: As Debby crosses the region, widespread rainfall of 1.5 to 3 inches, with locally up to 4 inches, is expected within the Watch area.
