2023 Lake George Winter Carnival

Four weekends of frozen fun, fast cars, fireworks and family-friendly festivities.

We all know Lake George as a legendary summer vacation spot in New York State, but you may not know that the Lake George Winter Carnival is one of the town’s hottest events. Each weekend in February, adults and kids alike can experience a winter wonderland full of fun activities for everyone, including:

  • Snowman-building contests

  • Motorcycle, ATV and car races across the ice

  • Daily polar plunges

  • Doggie Talent Contests

  • Outhouse Races

  • Firework displays

  • Chili, BBQ, chowder and wing cook-offs

  • S’mores, Make Your Own Sundaes, and a Hot Chocolate bar

  • Keg and Frying Pan Toss Contests

  • Horse-drawn Sleigh Rides

  • Pony Rides for Lil’ ADKers

Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or an adventure-seeking Brooklyn hipster looking to break up your routine of almond milk cappuccinos and lumberjack beard grooming, now’s your chance to experience something magical in the beautiful Adirondacks.

While not the oldest Winter Carnival in the area, the Lake George Winter Carnival has been a part of Adirondack life for over sixty years. Initially established in the early 1960s, the carnival has grown and evolved to incorporate more activities and wintertime diversions. The festival is now an iconic event that brings locals and tourists together to celebrate winter and support the community.

With its unique atmosphere, family-friendly environment, and various activities, it’s no wonder the Lake George Winter Carnival is so popular every year. Don’t miss out on this terrific opportunity to create lasting memories with your loved ones while discovering all this historic area has to offer.

Check out the daily schedules for each weekend on our Events page. We encourage you to check out the Lake George Winter Carnival Facebook page for up-to-the-minute news, information, and schedule updates.

And beyond the Lake George town line, visitors will find an abundance of amusements: There is plenty of downhill skiing nearby at Gore Mountain and West Mountain. Cross-country ski and snowshoeing trails abound, as well.
