Tuscany in the Adirondacks: Dancing Ewe Farm
At Granville’s Dancing Ewe Farm, it doesn't get more farm-to-table than this.
Dancing Ewe Farm is 100% focused on producing authentic Tuscan-style artisanal products.
Visit the farm to purchase delectable cheeses made on-premises, oils produced from the owner’s trees in Tuscany’s Maremma region and hand-selected wines from small Italian wine producers.
Stay for lunch or dinner on weekends for a truly exceptional experience. You’ll swear you’ve been transported to the hills of Tuscany.
At a recent lunch, we started with a delicious crisp Italian white wine while we snacked on toasted homemade bread with olive oil, rosemary and sea salt.
The Antipasti was a collection of the Dancing Ewe’s cheeses and salumi, pickled onion, a slice of vegetable frittata and an assortment of crostini.
We moved on to homemade ravioli stuffed with farm-fresh ricotta and cooked with butter and sage grown in their garden.
And if that’s not mouth-watering enough, we enjoyed homemade strawberry rhubarb crisp made with fresh strawberries and rhubarb and topped with hand-made vanilla ice cream from a blend of cow's milk cream and sheep's milk.
The price includes one bottle of wine for every two people. They offer a standard selection, but if you want to upgrade, the proprietors do a fun wine instruction at the beginning of the meal and review all the available wines.
The Dancing Ewe hosts several special events throughout the year, including a dinner with the Glens Falls Symphony, an annual bonfire, and sheepdog trials.
Check their website before you go to find out about hours and available meal seating.
You can also find their products at several upstate NY Farmers’ Markets.
And, if you’re really into it, you can subscribe to their monthly wine club. We do.
