It’s not summer yet, but things are starting to heat up in the ADK.

Looking for fun stuff to do this weekend in the Adirondacks? We have got you covered. After a fabulous Memorial Day Weekend, we are inching closer to legit Summer, and that means lots of great events for everyone.

Rhubarb Festival, Warrensburg, June 2.

The annual Warrensburg Rhubarb Festival is back on Friday, June 2nd, from 3 pm to 6 pm at the town’s Riverfront Farmers’ Market.

The festival features fresh rhubarb stalks, plants, prepared foods, recipes and more. Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardner Ruth Fruda will be on hand to provide information and tell you everything you ever wanted to know about rhubarb but were afraid to ask.

Crafts and take-and-make kits will be available from Richards Library director Shelby Burkhardt. Vendors include:

The Great Adirondack Birding Celebration June 2 - 4

Paul Smith’s Visitor’s Interpretive Center (VIC) hosts the Great Adirondack Birding Celebration (GABC). This event is designed to introduce Birders of all ages and skill levels to the unique boreal bird species and habitats in the Adirondack Park.

This three-day-long celebration features birding field trips to local Important Bird Areas (IBAs) and presentations by accomplished ornithologists. Field trips have limited capacity, so be sure to register soon. Learn more in our Events section.

The GABC is sponsored by and in partnership with the Hotel Saranac, Explore Adirondack Frontier and Northern New York Audubon.

Adirondack Woof Stock, June 3 - 4 in Chestertown

It’s a weekend of Peace, Paws & Music in Chestertown. Woof Stock is an event for all the critters in your family.

Highlights throughout the weekend include blessing the animals, food, live music, K9 police demos, costume contests, pet adoptions and grooming and more.

Whiteface Uphill Bike Race, Saturday, June 3
Are you looking for a big challenge? Why not race the 8-mile course up New York’s 5th tallest mountain?

The Whiteface Uphill Bike Race follows a USATF-certified course that covers 8 miles over an 8% grade up the scenic Veterans' Memorial Highway.

Cross the finish line, and you will be rewarded with 360-degree panoramic views of the Adirondacks, New England, and Montreal.

Free Guided Bird Walk, Lake Placid, June 3

The Adirondack Mountain Club’s Cascade Welcome Center will host six free birding walks this spring. Each program is open to all ages and aims to connect locals and visitors to the natural wonders of the Adirondack High Peaks Region.

As breeding birds return to the Adirondacks in the spring, it is a great time to start birding. At Cascade Welcome Center, participants will enjoy a pleasant walk on maintained trails through various habitats with an experienced birder, observing many different species and Peak views.

These trips are for all ages and abilities, whether you’ve been birding for years or if it’s your first time.

Trips will start with a short introduction at the Center, then head out on the trails. Visit our Events page for more information.

The start time is promptly at 7:30, perfect for early birds. This walk is funded by The Cullman Grant awarded by Northern New York Audubon.
