Near Peak Fall Foliage Arrives in the Adirondacks
This weekend is a great time for leaf-peeping all across the Adirondack Park’s 6 million acres.
The latest I Love New York Fall Foliage Report is out, and it looks like peak foliage is coming to the Adirondacks. It’s a great time to enjoy fall festivals and events this weekend.

Tri-Lakes and High Peaks towns and villages will be aflame with fall color.
Visitors to the Whiteface Mountain area in Wilmington, NY, will experience peak conditions, with 95% of the leaves changing to bright fall colors. This is an excellent time to drive up Whiteface’s Veteran’s Memorial Highway for a spectacular view of the foliage across the high peaks.
Lake Placid leaf spotters report near-peak to peak conditions with 75% foliage change. They see shades of gold and yellow and abundant bright red and brick-red leaves.
Near-peak foliage can also be found in Tupper Lake and Mount Arab. The always poetic leaf scouts from the region report up to 80-85% change “featuring a lush kaleidoscope of dandelion, goldenrod, ginger, russet, orange crush, scarlet, raspberry, claret, and cranberry leaves.”
According to observers in Saranac Lake, at least 85% of the foliage has transitioned, with a bright mix of ruby, orange, and yellow hues.
If you plan to head to Titus Mountain’s Oktoberfest in Malone on Saturday, foliage watchers report you can expect a 45% change with typical fall colors.
The Central Adirondacks are at peak foliage.
Just in time for one of our favorite events, the FallFest at the ADKX in Blue Mountain Lake, the foliage in the Central Adirondacks will be phenomenal.
In Lake Pleasant, observers report a 95% change in leaf color with a mix of orange, red, and yellow shades. In Long Lake, leaf scouts note an 80% change with tones of red and yellow.
Foliage watchers predict a 95% change in Newcomb. Expect gorgeous shades of red and orange foliage accented by patches of yellow.
I Love NY’s leaf spotters in Old Forge predict up to 90% foliage change with bright red, gold, and amber leaves and brilliant shades of yellow and orange.
Way west, Lowville’s leaf patrol recorded an 80% transition with radiant shades of tangerine and banana.
The Lake Champlain Region and Adirondack Coast ease into fall foliage season.
In Crown Point on Lake Champlain, 40% of the leaves are in transition, with gold tones and shades of yellow, along with an occasional splash of orange and a sprinkling of dark red.
If you plan to visit Fort Ticonderoga for its Heritage, Harvest and Horse Festival, you will see 40% of the foliage transitioning to beautiful fall shades.
The Plattsburgh area shows 40% foliage change with primarily yellow and orange leaves.
Fall colors in the Lake George and Southern Foothills.
The southern Adirondacks continue transitioning to fall colors just in time for the annual treasure hunt known as the World’s Largest Garage Sale in Warrensburg near Lake George Village.
Spotters in Lake George expect a 30% change by the weekend. Lake Luzerne and Potash Mountain are noting a 40% foliage change with shades of dark red, yellow, and rusty orange.
In Queensbury near Glens Falls, observers report a 50% change by the weekend.
