Don’t miss peak foliage across the Adirondack Park’s 6 million acres.

It’s the fifth week of fall foliage, or leaf-peeping, season in the Adirondacks. As we near Indigenous Peoples Day - Columbus Day, let’s check in with the latest I Love New York Fall Foliage Report to find the best places to see the leaves this holiday weekend.

There are also many great activities this weekend all across the Adirondack Park. Get out there and enjoy!

Tri-Lakes and High Peaks towns and villages will be aflame with fall color.

Plan on visiting the annual Flaming Leaves Festival for the USA Ski Jumping National Championships in Lake Placid. You’ll also get to experience peak to just-past-peak foliage with 95% change in the area. You’ll be treated to bright fall shades in the Village and just-past-peak deep reds and golds in the surrounding mountains.

The nearby Whiteface Mountain Ski Area in Wilmington is at peak foliage. Leaf reporters there tell us that the leaves are 80% turned, showing very bright shades of red, orange, yellow and purple.

In Saranac Lake, leaf spotters see a bright mix of fall colors. They estimate the change to be at 85% with just-past-peak conditions. If you’re in the area, don’t miss the Adirondack Loon Celebration at Paul Smith’s VIC this weekend.

In nearby Tupper Lake and Mt. Arab, leaves have transitioned 90-95% to fall colors. Leaf observers in that area report “cinnamon, copper, honey, ginger, clementine, saffron, mahogany and paprika leaves of above-average brilliance.” This should provide a great backdrop to Raquette River Brewing’s Oktoberfest Weekend.

In Malone, NY, expect a 55% changeover with bright red and orange hues.

The Central Adirondacks are at peak foliage.

The Central Adirondacks are an excellent destination for seeing gorgeous fall colors. Newcomb is reporting a 100% transition with primarily red and orange leaves of contrasting brilliance, plus small patches of yellow.

Leaf Spotters report peak foliage with 95% leaf change at Lapland Lake Nordic Vacation Center in Benson with red, purple and yellow leaves. Don’t let the name fool you; Lapland Lake is a year-round destination with lodging and plenty of fall activities.

Fall foliage in Long Lake

Long Lake.

Lake Pleasant is at 100% change with mostly muted orange and gold leaves. And Long Lake observers estimate a 90% change with varying yellows, oranges and browns. This weekend's fun events include the Octo-BEAR-Fest at Hoss’s Country Store and the Harvest Craft Fair.

Old Forge is reporting slightly past-peak foliage with orange and yellow shades. I Love NY’s Lowville’s leaf patrol recorded an 80% transition with bright shades of orange and yellow.

The Lake Champlain Region and Adirondack Coast fall foliage is still in transition.

The Applefolkfest at the Penfield Homestead Museum is happening at Crown Point on Lake Champlain this weekend against a backdrop of leaves that are 55% changed. Expect gold tones, shades of yellow, some orange, and pops of red.

Ticonderoga reports muted-to-average shades of yellow and orange, plus hints of red. Approximately 40% of their leaves have changed.

Bright fall colors in the Lake George area and Southern Foothills.

In Queensbury near Glens Falls, observers report an 80% change by the weekend.
