Live Storytelling Competition in Brant Lake
share five minutes of your life in a room full of people who appreciate a well-told tale.
North Country Public Radio and the Adirondack Center for Writing will host their next live Story Slam competition at The Hub in Brant Lake. This season’s theme is School Days.
These events feature 5 minute true stories from people in the local community with no notes and no props. The first 15 storytellers to sign up will be included in the lineup.
Tips for storytellers.
Stories should be genuine and must be told without any notes or props.
Storytellers are limited to five minutes, so get into the action of your story quickly.
Practice, practice and practice to hone your story to its most essential elements and ensure you can tell it in five minutes.
This is not stand-up or speakers corner. Some humor and opinions are fine, but leave the comedy routine and political rants at home.
When you show up, put your name in the hat. When your name is called, you've got five minutes to tell your tale!
Storytellers will be judged on the story’s relevance to the night's theme, an account with a conflict and resolution, and staying within the time limit.
If you can, there's a suggested $10 donation for the Howl team to support the storytelling season.
The Howl Story Slam team is a partnership between the Adirondack Center for Writing and North Country Public Radio, two organizations that believe in the power of stories.

The next Howl Story SLAM will be held Thursday, June 22, at Ledge Hill Brewing in Ticonderoga.
