If you came of age in the late 70s and 80s, you remember the hype and excitement of attending your first “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” screening. The Pendragon Theatre in Saranac Lake recaptures the infectious thrill of attending a midnight showing of this pop culture phenomenon. The Pendragon’s theatrical production even allows for some of the original audience interactivity that characterized screenings of the cult classic.

The cast and company have been winning rave reviews, and the Pendragon recently added five more performances, extending the run until Sunday, July 16th.

The production follows the same storyline as the cult classic movie. Sweethearts Brad and Janet, stuck with a flat tire during a storm, discover the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. As their innocence is lost, Brad and Janet meet a houseful of wild characters, including a rocking biker and a creepy butler. Through elaborate dances and rock songs, Frank-N-Furter unveils his latest creation: a muscular man named "Rocky."

Pendragon’s ‘The Rocky Horror Show’ gives you everything you want from this madcap underground classic; laughs, cringes, shrieks, rockin’ tunes and audience interaction.
— Colin Fleming-Stumpf, BroadwayWorld

While the performance isn’t staged like the movie you remember (how could it be?), the Pendragon’s version is set in the style of a rock concert and faithful fans of the original movie can expect a different type of environment that also includes all their favorite songs and characters.

There will be some interaction with the audience, and theatre-goers are welcome to dress up and bring props, but no liquid or food is allowed (to keep rodents and bugs away), so keep your spray water bottles, rice, hot dogs, and toast at home.

For more information, including how to get tickets, visit the Pendragon’s website.
