Enjoy Exploring for Mushrooms at the ADKX
Attend a mushroom walk at the Adirondack Experience on Blue Mountain Lake on August 27.
Join mushroom enthusiast Susan Hopkins at The Adirondack Experience on Blue Mountain Lake to discover the fabulous fungi growing in our woods.
The event will follow the forested trail to Minnow Pond, home to dozens of mushrooms offering a rich introduction and exploration of the “wood wide web.” The mushrooms that may be fruiting change constantly, and Susan will share her knowledge of what’s “on view.”
Discover which mushrooms to forage for a delicious dinner or delightful dye and which to avoid for you and your pets’ well-being.
A few notes for getting ready:
The walk will take place on Minnow Pond Trail. The trail is a ¾-mile, easy-to-moderate trail and may have varied conditions. The group may not hike the entire route depending on the abundance of mushrooms.
Wear sturdy shoes and bring water, snack, bug spray, and appropriate outerwear.
Bring a notebook and pencil if you’d like to take notes and your camera to take pictures.
The mushroom walk is rain or shine. In case of thunderstorms or severe weather, the ADKX will cancel the program and contact registrants as soon as possible.
Dogs, except service dogs, are not allowed on the museum campus or trails.
