Opening Ceremonies for the Lake Placid 2023 World University Winter Games
Lake Placid is the destination for the 2023 Winter World University Games, the largest winter multi-sport collegiate athletic competition in the world.
This thrilling event takes place over 11 days, from January 12 to 22, with athletes landing in Lake Placid and the surrounding area from more than 50 countries.
And it all kicks off on January 12 with a rousing opening ceremony in the Lake Placid Olympic Center’s Herb Brooks Arena at 7 pm. The ceremonies will pay respect to and celebrate the athletes, as well as New York’s rich history.
Organizers expect to host 2,500 athletes and coaches from over 600 universities—that’s almost twice the size of the 1980 Olympic Winter Games that were also held in Lake Placid. For more information about the events, including schedule, venues, tickets, etc., visit lakeplacid2023.com.
