Create Great Fourth of July Memories in Lake Placid
Celebrated Independence Day all day and into the evening.
The Village of Lake Placid is a great place to visit on any day of the year. Host of two Winter Olympics (1932 and 1980), there is plenty to see, do, shop and excellent places to eat.
They also know how to celebrate the 4th of July. A few of the special activities on Tuesday, July 4th, 2023, include:
The 2023 I Love NY Horse Show begins on July 4th. See world-class riders and horses participate in Hunter and Jumper competitions.
And, because the first day is technically a warm-up day, admission is free. The action begins at 8 am and lasts until 5 pm. Visit their website for more information.
4th of July Parade
Ending the afternoon every year is Lake Placid's Fourth of July gala parade, starting at 5 pm. This event is very popular with the people of Lake Placid, and participation from local civic groups, businesses, and individuals is high, and crowd enthusiasm is high.
Parade participants will prepare at 4:45 pm on Parkside Drive; parade announcers will recognize individual entries as they pass Mid’s Park on Main Street in the Middle of Town.
Fireworks over Mirror Lake
Crowning the day is Lake Placid's famous Fourth of July fireworks extravaganza, Set the Night to Music. The fireworks show begins at 9:30 pm and is choreographed to music over Mirror Lake. Hear the official soundtrack live on 100.7/102.1 - LAKEfm and 105.5/95.3 FM - Adirondack 105.
Helpful hints: Bring a blanket or a lawn chair for the fireworks show. The Mirror Lake Public beach area and the large hill looking over Main Street are great places to watch. Order a pizza and enjoy the show!
