Courthouse Gallery Presents: “Here and There” Paintings by Kathryn Lynch
The Lake George Arts Project Gallery features the NYC-based painter at their gallery just of Canada Street in Lake George Village.
Visit the Courthouse Gallery to see talented artist Kathryn Lynch's captivating artwork that captures the beauty of everyday life, from Hudson Valley scenery to urban cityscapes and everything in between.
Rather than relying on direct observation alone, her works are inspired by moments she holds close to her heart; memories transported through a simplistic style that builds atmosphere with light brush strokes.
Expressing an emotional connection with nature more so than physical features allows Ms. Lynch’s pieces to communicate unique sentiments rather than simply document what is seen. As such, each painting serves as both an homage and heartfelt reminder for when we, too, move on – enabling us “to keep painting it" even after leaving the scene behind.
A talented and diverse artist who has developed an impressive body of work, Ms. Lynch earned her BA from William Smith College, an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. She also studied at Skowhegan School for Painting & Sculpture to further develop her talents that have given her the creative skill set she proudly exhibits in galleries across America.
Her recent solo shows include City Grit, Sears-Peyton Gallery, NYC; Restless Nights, Private Public Gallery, Hudson, NY; Between the Streets, Turn Gallery, Parlour Room, NYC; Islands, The Drawing Room Gallery, East Hampton, NY; Far Away Home, Sears-Peyton, Gallery, NYC; Hot Days and Nights, Tayloe Piggott Gallery, Jackson Hole, WY.
Ms. Lynch’s awards include a 2018 NYSCA/ NYFA Artist Fellowship in painting and residencies at Yaddo, Vermont Studio Center, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Marie Walsh Sharpe Foundation, Foundation Valparaiso and the Millay Colony.
Her work has been featured in New American Paintings, Art News, the online contemporary art magazine Two Coats of Paint and Guernica Magazine, among other publications. Her work is in public and corporate collections such as the University of California Berkeley Art Museum, Fort Wayne Museum of Art, Microsoft, Johnson and Johnson and others.
